[Uhura is on the porch today, surrounded by what looks like the insides of an old-fashioned transistor radio. She is utterly absorbed in messing about with the various wires and metal bits - she's been so busy with these experiments lately that she's kind of missed the fact that an experiment is going on.

After all, she can't see the thought bubbles if she doesn't even look up from her little wires.

Her current thoughts are full of wiring, circuitry and strange mathematical symbols, along with a smattering of other languages. There are some thoughts running by in English, though.

Like ((A signal boost would require a break in the barrier, but a break in the barrier would require a significant surge of power. What sort of power, is yet to be determined...))

Or ((Radio frequences are more than likely present, but I'd need to encrypt any messages and the likelihood of tampering is high...))

Or ((I wonder if Spock and Mal should meet...))]

[Uhura has been completely ignoring the journal network the past several days, in favor of research in the library and brainstorming. In fact, the library is where she's currently at, sitting at a table surrounded by the usual assortment of books on just about any subject you can think of.]

I'm wondering if anyone here might be interested in a sort of informal discussion group? The children here have the option of school, but most of us adults are on our own. Personally, I'm very interested in the various cultures represented here, and I've always found that the best way to learn is directly from those who live the culture every day.

It could be fun - exchanging ideas, learning about each other. Just an informal, maybe once a week, kind of get-together? No obligations, of course. Just something to pass the time.

Doctor, that tetrazzini the other day was really good.

((She's affected and taken. Please allow Mal to respond first. Done, knock yourselves out! ^_^))

[Uhura is attempting to make her way to the library. This... might prove difficult, today.]

Busy day today.
